“Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven't time, and to see takes time - like to have a friend takes time.”
— Georgia O’Keeffe

“When we engage in what we are naturally suited to do, our work takes on the quality of play and it is play that stimulates creativity.”
— Linda Naiman

“There is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost.”
Martha Graham

We wake up every morning at the intersection of art and life. For some, our attention to the interior life bears fruit as beauty and action in the world. For others, the skilled, focused presence toward our artwork awakens an inner clarity and sense of "home." That unmistakable alchemy of acting in the world with integrity is born from such intersections. Drawing elements such as negative space, balance, or movement are worth exploring in life as much as in artwork.

Join an 8-week small group collaboration between The Hive: A Center for Contemplation, Art, and Action and Manifest Drawing Center. Each week will include drawing studio guidance as well as guided meditation springing from 7 principles of design. Classes are 2.5 hours and alternate between Manifest Drawing Center in Madisonville, and The Hive in Northside. Each class will be co-facilitated by Brigid O'Kane and Troy Bronsink, who will bring their expertise and beginners-mind to bear in both domains of art and contemplation.

Brigid and Troy collaborated on the design of this course inspired by their mutual interests in drawing and meditation. Brigid brings an additional layer of consciousness to this course as she fulfills the requirements for her certification in the Conscious Feminine Leadership Academy offered through Women Writing for (a) Change

Level of Study

The class is open to those from all levels of drawing or meditation experience who are willing to participate as part of the group for all 8 weeks of guided direction, while also sharing their personal integrative consideration to both life and art.
