THE OPEN FIGURE LIFE DRAWING SESSIONS

As Manifest's oldest running program, operating continuously for over sixteen years, the Open Sessions continue to provide the Greater Cincinnati region a valuable life-drawing opportunity in which professionals, students, novices, teachers, and the creative public can work side-by-side in common pursuit of shared learning around the discipline of drawing while working from the nude (or clothed) model. The Drawing Center's relaxed yet vibrant no-pressure environment inevitably leads to new learning, support, and productivity that complements formal study (at the high school, college, or professional level), or other non-figure-based artistic work. Each session is moderated by Manifest Associates who are trained and well-qualified artists and/or instructors at the college level.

June 1, 2021 – In line with current CDC guidelines for Institutions of Higher Education:
MANIFEST DRAWING CENTER WILL CONTINUE TO REQUEST MASKS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS USING OUR STUDIOS.

Additionally, we encourage all participants to continue social distancing (6ft) whenever possible, washing hands often, and taking advantage of the sanitizing products around the studios to clean equipment after each use. All Open Figure and Open Studio sessions will be limited to 9 artists (so all participants must claim a ticket for their event at least 3 hours in advance).

These decisions have been made after careful consideration of our community’s vulnerabilities and needs. We will continue to assess the latest guidance of health care professionals and our community’s progress in securing vaccines, and we will update these policies as soon as it is appropriate to do so. We are grateful for your continued assistance in keeping our artists and staff safe in (what we hope are) the final stages of our pandemic restrictions.

Anyone failing to abide by our studio rules and moderator requests will be asked to leave.

GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION

A NEW SCHEDULE
Sessions are now offered on a weekly basis on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the year. Our CALENDAR is the best place to confirm the status of a session or course. In general, major holidays or weather emergencies (or state or city-mandated pandemic shutdowns) are the only times sessions are not offered.

SCHEDULE:

Tuesdays 7-9pm
Wednesdays 7-9pm

This schedule represents our return to regular Open Figure Sessions but still at a greatly reduced capacity in order to maximize safety through social distancing. As demand increases we will expand the number of scheduled sessions, or adjust accordingly, and this page will be updated.

Set-up and clean-up activities will be slightly modified. Please listen to all instructions from your moderator in order to ensure efficient and safe participation.

Note: on very rare occasions a session may be canceled on a particular day due to overlap with a Manifest instructed course or public artist demo scheduled for the same space. Communications about such a closure will be made in advance, and noted on our calendar, and all 10-week block participants will have their registrations extended by one session.

MODERATORS

Tuesdays Hanna Sosin, Scholar in Residence
Wednesdays Adam Mysock

LOCATION: Unless otherwise specified, all courses are hosted at Manifest's Drawing Center Studios in Walnut Hills at 656 E. McMillan St. (second floor) (see map and directions below). Manifest's new studio facility provides two studio classrooms, private lesson space, a darkroom, film processing room, and a multi-purpose lecture and class meeting space all totaling over 4000 square-feet. The studios are outfitted with professional equipment, furniture, and study aids.

Drawing horses and easels as well as storage shelf space are available on a first-come first served basis. Supplementary seating, including chairs, stools, and cushions is also available. Participants should provide for their own supplies and drawing board, and assume all risk for items and art left at the studio.
