*On September 9th class will end at 4pm in preparation for the public demonstration.

Description: Design your own creatures based on real world animals in this 3-day design drawing workshop. Recognizing that nature is a powerful resource when sketching, the workshop will begin with a visit to the Cincinnati Zoo to study animal movement and anatomy. With these observational sketches in hand, we will return to the studio to begin rough and quick sketching exercises to generate ideas. Throughout the remainder of the workshop, we will slowly refine these ideas into a polished portfolio piece. Participants can expect to learn how to draw creatures using basic forms and fundamental drawing techniques. The focus will be on building a deep understanding of the design and function of a creature, with an emphasis on anatomy.
Workshop Objectives:
• To transform basic forms into complex forms
• To understand the basics of creature anatomy
• To overcome the fear of drawing
Materials List:
- A sketchpad roughly 11 x 14 or larger
- Drawing pencils and eraser of your choice
- Smaller sketchbook to take to the zoo
- Drawing board
Level of Study: Open to all levels, but some drawing experience may be helpful.
* A 10% surcharge will be required for late payments or other non-standard transactions.
