An element of paintings that I find really appealing is how they can accumulate over time.  A painting doesn't have the clean editing process that an essay or a piece of music would.  It contains histories of conflicting ideas and attitude, of resonant and dissonant moments.  It's a record of a reconciliation process for present, past, and future.   bioborn: 1972, Springfield, Missouri
