statement
Jimmie Arroyo has been drawing since childhood, fascinated with portraits and figures. Although he has worked in charcoal, pastel, and oil, he always returns to drawing and uses it strongly as a foundation for the majority of his work. Jimmie finds influence from Michelangelo, Ingres, Klimt, Schiele and especially the Da Vinci exhibition at the Metropolitan, which he considers a life changing experience. He combines realism with a touch of macabre with the hopes of making a connection with the viewer and find beauty in the work.
