statement
My current work explores the quietude and hostility of the natural world. Moments or events are rooted in stillness, but with an underlying sense that a larger drama exists beyond our awareness or control. While the representational component of my work is apparent, it is also intentionally fragile. Drawing media enables me to focus on line as the foundation for images. I am attracted to the ease with which a mark can suddenly become a vine or a blade of grass. This work is informed by my exposure to the New Mexican wilderness and my personal conflicts with the earth's uncertain future.
