Join us for QuickDraw, a high-energy afternoon of uninstructed gesture and short-pose life drawing. QuickDraw Sessions provide artists of all ages, multi-aged groups, and families the opportunity to engage in life drawing in an open and creative environment.

What are gesture drawings?

More than just a warm-up exercise, gestures are quickly executed drawings for the purpose of studying a human figure, or some other subject, in motion, and capturing the essential expression of form. The practice of gesture drawing helps to develop your visual memory and mark-making instincts, requiring energy rather than precision. It applies especially well to drawing live animals in the Zoo, or in our very own Hogwarts owlery!

For November’s QuickDraw!, Manifest Drawing Center will welcome a very special set of models into our main studio—multiple birds-of-prey from Raptor Inc.! Previous special guests have included a Great-Horned Owl, Peregrine Falcon, and Red-Shouldered Hawk. The birds will pose amongst our various studio resources, including our substantial collection of classical cast sculptures. The third such partnership with Raptor Inc., this event is not to be missed especially because it will take place in our historic new home of 'M1', a perfect setting for such magical creativity!

MATERIALS
Participants must bring their own drawing supplies, sketchbook, and drawing board (if needed). Just a sketchbook and pen or pencil will do!

LOCATION: Unless otherwise specified, all courses are hosted at Manifest's new facility at 'M1' in Clifton at 3464 Central Parkway (see map and directions below). Manifest's new facility provides multiple studio classrooms, private lesson space, a darkroom, a film processing room, and a multi-purpose lecture and class meeting space as well as on-site parking, grounds, and exterior spaces in which to relax, discuss, and make art. The studios are outfitted with professional equipment, furniture, and study aids.

AREA ACCOMMODATIONS

For those who may opt to travel to Cincinnati to attend this small offering, perhaps in concert with other weekend studio programs at Manifest, or a visit to our Gallery, there are many exciting or practical options for accommodations. For a special stay within a mile of Manifest's new facility, we would recommend checking with The Clifton House Bed & Breakfast* (https://thecliftonhouse.com) or The Gaslight Bed & Breakfast (https://www.gaslightbb.com). Alternatively, the 21c Museum Hotel is in the heart of downtown just four miles from our location (link). Many other standard hotels are within a few miles of our location as well.
