Recognition of the power to convey meaning through marks and lines is the foundation of visual communication.
The artist pierces the surface of the walls to create the three-dimensional drawing, "Secret Garden", where the lines and marks are made of manufactured, found and discarded materials. Pins, nails, wire, blades, steel ties, thread, and shadows become drawings of, "leafless stems, clumps of bushes, long tendrils, some things sticking out, so many sharp points," – all descriptions taken from "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett –
"It isn't a quite dead garden," she cried out softly to herself.
